Even So, A Good Report

Here’s what’s coming on Hebrew Nation Radio on Monday, September 25:

Jeremiah 31, the chapter that contains the promise of a New Covenant, begins with this word of hope:

Thus says the Lord: “The people who survived the sword found grace in the wilderness; when Israel sought for rest, the Lord appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you. Again I will build you, and you shall be built, O virgin Israel! Again you shall take your tambourines, and go forth in the dance of the merrymakers. Again you shall plant vineyards on the mountains of Samaria; the planters shall plant, and shall enjoy the fruit. For there shall be a day when sentinels will call in the hill country of Ephraim: ‘Come, let us go up to Zion, to the Lord our God.'” (Jeremiah 31:2-6)

This passage contains some surprises. First of all, it links the New Covenant of redemption to Israel’s restoration to the Promised Land. Second, and perhaps most important, this prophetic promise is being fulfilled right now!

Rabbi Moshe Goldsmith and his wife, Leah, bring a personal testimony of how this prophecy is being fulfilled. As long time residents of the Itamar community in the Shomron (Samaria), they live in the very place where Jeremiah’s words promise the planting of vineyards and the joyful return to Zion at the appointed times of the Lord.

But the sentinels of Itamar, and in other communities of Judea and Samaria (the region much of the world knows as the “West Bank”), often have less joyful reports to announce. Itamar has frequently experienced tragic losses since its foundation in 1984. Those losses include the entire Fogel family, murdered in their beds by Arab assailants in March 2011.

If life in Itamar is so dangerous, why do people stay there? That is what we will learn from Moshe and Leah. Expect a good report from the Land of Israel from people who know it well.

Forgotten No More

Here’s what’s coming on Hebrew Nation Radio on Monday, September 18:
Among those wise sayings of King Solomon is this one:
Do not move the ancient boundary which your fathers have set. (Proverbs 22:28)
Solomon took this word directly from a Torah commandment – a commandment that comes with a curse for those who choose not to abide by it (Deuteronomy 19:14, 27:17). Tragically, the record of human history is one of blatant disregard for boundaries. This edition of the Remnant Road probes into one of those violations of boundaries that occurred in the United States. In 1838, the Cherokee, Muscogee (Creek), Chickasaw, Choctaw, and Seminole peoples were removed from their homes in the Southeast and relocated to what Oklahoma. It is an ugly chapter of American history, rightly called the Trail of Tears.
Jesse Running Bear is among many First Nations people who are raising awareness of the Trail of Tears to honor those who suffered dishonor in ages past, and to heal a breach that persists to this day. He and many others will gather on September 17 at Woodbury, Tennessee, to walk part of the Trail of Tears in a commemorative act of protocol. He returns to the Remnant Road to share his understanding of the awakening of the First Nations to regain their identity and the place of authority the Creator assigned them on this continent.
Hanoch Young will join us as well during our first hour, bringing another timely word from Israel. How does Israel connect with First Nations people in America? Listen and find out. You may be surprised!

Seeking Higher Ground

Here’s what’s coming on Hebrew Nation Radio on Monday, September 11:

Hurricanes are bad news. Or are they?

To those who have lost homes, property, livelihood, and loved ones, it is very hard to find anything good about a monster storm like Hurricane Harvey. A common question might be, “Where was God in all that?”

John McQuary can help us find the answer. He and his wife, Glenda, endured one of the worst storms that has ever come ashore in Texas. Their Houston neighborhood suffered severe flooding, and yet their home remained intact. John will explain, the Almighty’s provision not only during the storm, but in the years leading up to it, positioned the them in such a way to remain safe, and to begin coordinating recovery efforts as the flood waters began to recede.

This is a very special Remnant Road program. John’s congregation, Becoming One Stick in His Hand, is at the center of recovery work in Houston, even though many among them are also in need.

How can you help? And how could you help prepare for the hurricanes even now blowing in from the Atlantic? We will get John’s perspective on these and many more questions in our second hour, and in our first hour will have another first-hand report from Hanoch in Israel.

Diligently Teaching Our Children

Here’s what’s coming on Hebrew Nation Radio on Monday, September 4:

Children do not automatically develop a biblical worldview. Like all worthy endeavors, training up our children in the way they should go requires active participation, wisdom, effort, patience, creativity, and a large measure of fun.

This is something Tyler Dawn Rosenquist knows from her years of experience as an educator, author, and Mom. She joins us on The Remnant Road to share her insights about instilling Torah principles in young people to prepare them for life. Many of these insights have found their way into Tyler’s five books, the newest of which is Context For Adults: Sexuality, Social Identity and Kinship Relations in the Bible, Volume 3 in her Context For Kids series. Check our her Context for Kids website (http://contextforkids.com/), and her blog, The Ancient Bridge (http://theancientbridge.com/).

Tyler will be with us in the second hour. In the first hour, expect a continuing discussion by Mike, Barry, and Al about the context of Hebraic revival, and an update from the Land of Israel by Hanoch!

What does Hebraic revival look like?

Here’s what’s coming on Hebrew Nation Radio on Monday, August 28:
The history of Christianity features periods of major revival, particularly in the last 500 years. One explanation of this is that revivals happen at times when God is restoring something His people have lost. The Reformation, for example, featured restoration of the Word of God as the Bible was translated into the common languages of Europe. The Great Awakenings of the 18th and 19th centuries emphasized repentance and holiness, transforming societies through such actions as the abolition of slavery and giving birth to the modern missionary movement. Then came the Azusa Street and similar revivals in the early 20th century, with their emphasis on the gifts of the Holy Spirit, followed by the message of evangelism in Billy Graham’s generation. In the last 40 years, intercessory prayer has developed into a global movement that has united Christians of many denominations around the world in a concerted effort to seek the heart of the Father.

So what happens when the next move of God is not associated with the traditional church?

That seems to be the case with the Torah Awakening. Multitudes of Christians are now beginning to understand not only the applicability of Torah to their lives, but also their identity as Hebrews. What are the implications of this awakening? And what will be the result when the focus of previous revivals – particularly the Holy Spirit, holiness, and intercessory prayer – combine with a desire to learn Yah’s ways and follow them in obedience?

Join us for what may be our most important discussion yet as Mike, Barry, Al, and Hanoch share their observations and expectations. You won’t want to miss this one!

Why should I care about BDS?

Here’s what’s coming on Hebrew Nation Radio on Monday, August 21:

Just how much hatred of Israel is there in the world? You may be surprised.

Much of the audience of The Remnant Road is pro-Israel. Whether Messianic/Hebrew Roots, Christian, or Jewish, our impression of the State of Israel and the Jewish people is positive. That attitude, of course, comes from a biblical worldview which sees Israel as the covenant nation of the Almighty God. Yet most of the world does not share such a worldview.

This is where Lee Bender comes in. He has been fighting anti-Israel bias for many years through his website, Facts on Israel, and in his position as  co-president of the Philadelphia Chapter, Zionist Organization of America. Lee joins us to talk about Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS), the movement that is born from a worldview which sees Israel as illegitimate. His particular topic in this visit is the current concert tour of Roger Waters, former Pink Floyd bass player who is actively promoting BDS at every opportunity. Why is this important? That is what Lee will explain to us.

Before we visit with Lee, Hanoch Young will join us for a live report from Israel. He will have just returned home from a trip to the US for the Latter Reign Conference in Lake City, Florida. Expect some eye-opening observations as Hanoch shares his perspective on the current state of affairs.

The Eclipse is coming! Should I be worried?

Here’s what’s coming on Hebrew Nation Radio on Monday, August 14:
People have regarded solar eclipses as frightening signs of disaster and judgment since the beginning of recorded history. Is that how we should view the Great American Eclipse of 2017? How does it fit in the prophetic timeline of Israel’s restoration – and how is that even relevant? That’s the topic for our first hour. Mike and Al will try to get beyond the hype and talk about the possible meaning of this celestial event which many people regard as a sign from God.
For our second hour we will talk with Gloria Bloomfield of Kol HaMashiach Messianic Congregation in Lake City, Florida. Kol HaMashiach is hosting the Latter Reign Conference August 11-13. Once again, Israel is the focus, with speakers Mike Clayton, Hanoch Young, Jim Barfield, and David Altman. Join us and find out what happened – and what to expect in the future!

The Nexus of Torah, Messiah, and Israel

In this inaugural show of our new format, Mike Clayton and Al McCarn talk about the scriptural basis for the return of the House of Israel/Ephraim, and why so many Christians are awakening to an understanding of this and of their part in it. If Israel really is our home, then what happens there now should be of interest to us, and we should prayerfully consider how to get involved in support of the State of Israel and the Jewish people.

Our second hour features a lively conversation with Jeremy Chance Springfield, a lifelong student of Biblical Hebrew. His studies have resulted in fascinating and thought-provoking teachings now available on his web site, Random Groovy Bible Facts. He shares with us some of his insights, such as why the Torah requires Messiah to be born of a virgin. That’s just one of many eye-opening perspectives Jeremy brings about the foundation in Torah of many important points we have believed by faith, but may not know how to explain from Scripture.

What is Tisha B’Av, and why should you care?

One of those mysterious verses for those who did not grow up Jewish is this one from Zechariah:

Thus says the Lord of hosts, “The fast of the fourth, the fast of the fifth, the fast of the seventh and the fast of the tenth months will become joy, gladness, and cheerful feasts for the house of Judah; so love truth and peace.” (Zechariah 8:19 NASB)

We know from Torah that the fast of the seventh month is Yom Kippur, but what are the others? In this show, we talk about two of them: the 17th of Tammuz (Fast of the Fourth Month), and the 9th of Av (Fast of the Fifth Month). Those dates mark the three-week period known as the Dire Straits, when disastrous things have happened to the Jewish people and the entire nation of Israel throughout history. Such things include the sin of the Golden Calf at Mount Sinai, the destruction of both Temples, the onset of the Holocaust, the expulsion of Jews from many nations, and more. (The Fast of the Tenth Month is Asara B’Tevet, which commemorates the beginning of the siege of Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar.)

Something very significant has happened during the Dire Straits this year: the Temple Mount has become the center of a controversy that threatens the security of Israel and the status quo in the Middle East. That’s why we asked three men who know the situation well to share their thoughts about it.

  • Mikell Clayton of Joined to Hashem is filling in for Al as Daniel’s co-host on this show. He is intimately acquainted with the Land and people of Israel, thanks to his many years of travel there and his extensive contacts in the Land.
  • Hanoch Young of Kol Yehuda brings his perspective as an Israeli and as a Jewish voice who has labored for nearly a quarter century in awakening the people of Ephraim to their identity.
  • Barry Phillips of House of David Beit Midrash in Gloucester, VA and of B’ney Yosef North America has labored for many years to reach the remnant of Israel and see it restored.

In this very special program, you will hear the passion of these brothers in seeing all of Israel restored as God has promised throughout His word. Here also we say farewell to Daniel, who is leaving the show as the Lord leads him to a new assignment.

A Sure Sign of Doomsday?

Here’s what is coming up on The Remnant Road on Hebrew Nation Radio for Monday, July 24:

On August 21, a total eclipse of the sun will cross the United States from coast to coast. This doesn’t happen often. In fact, the last time was July 29, 1878 – and even then it wasn’t a coast-to-coast event.
What does it mean? Is this a sign of judgment? Or is it simply a remarkable celestial event we don’t want to miss?
Dr. Steve Ruskin is well qualified to talk about these questions. As a historian of astronomy, he is experienced at investigating celestial events. His latest book is America’s First Great Eclipse: How Scientists, Tourists, and the Rocky Mountain Eclipse of 1878 Changed Astronomy Forever. In it he documents the excitement of 19th century Americans as they traveled thousands of miles through what was still the Wild West just to see the eclipse. Listen as Steve compares the two events, and shares tips on where to see the Great Eclipse of 2017, and how to do so safely!
Check out Steve’s web site at http://www.firstgreateclipse.com/.
