Publication Update: The Ten Dollar Comma

Did you ever think that a simple punctuation mark could cost $10? We didn’t either. Then we took our plunge into the publishing industry!

Comma Chameleon courtesy of SnorgTees.

As we reviewed the proofs of Ten Parts in the King over the weekend, we found a few things that needed attention. It’s amazing what you miss after working for months on a manuscript! For example, everyone knows that you shouldn’t put a “v” in “rabbi,” but somehow we managed to do it. That’s just one of several typos and other corrections we found. We’re happy to say that there were not many, and that the most significant correction was rewriting one sentence that somehow got garbled in our many previous edits. Having satisfied ourselves with the results, we sent the corrections back to the printer on Tuesday. Now we’re simply waiting for news on when the job will be finished. Once we hear that news (and it could be any day now), we’ll be able to accept preorders through Key of David Publishing.

Now about that $10 comma. There is one place in the book where it seemed to make better grammatical sense to add a comma. Then we realized that every page we changed would add $10 to the total print cost. After thinking it over, we decided that such a price was a bit too much for a single piece punctuation mark! Besides, it’s more fun to let our readers make a game of it and see where that comma should have been.

That’s the news for now! If you have any questions, please contact us at editor@tenpartsintheking.com. And, help us spread the word!

Publication Update: The Proofs Are Here! – Ten Parts in the King

It’s been only two weeks since we sent our manuscript to the printer, and today the proofs arrived!

Just yesterday the printer had asked about four of the images in the book. Since they were not at the recommended resolution for printing, the question was whether we would replace them, or continue with what we had submitted. As we reviewed the images, we decided only one picture might be a problem: a map of the division of Israel according to tribal territories. That potential problem was not enough to stop the process, so we asked the printer to continue with the manuscript as is.

That was yesterday morning. We didn’t expect to see the proofs until next week, so it was quite a surprise to see the smiling UPS man at my door this morning! As of this writing, Pete hasn’t had a chance to see his copy of the proof (that’s one advantage to working at home!), but I have done a quick review. Everything seems to be in order. And that questionable picture? As you can see, that particular image seems to have turned out quite nicely – even better than some of the higher resolution images!

We will take the weekend to review the proofs closely to see if there is anything that needs tweaking. Assuming all is well, the printer tells us the job will take about 4-6 weeks to complete. That means we’re now looking at mid- to late-January as the availability date. We’re a bit disappointed at not having Ten Parts in the King published this month, but perhaps it’s better that way. Now the book will come out after the holiday rush, and we have more time to plan a proper book launch.

Thanks again to everyone who has prayed for, contributed to, edited, and advised us on this project! We are so excited to be one giant step closer to having it done.

If you have any questions, please contact us at editor@tenpartsintheking.com. And, help us spread the word!

Today, we are thankful!!! – Ten Parts in the King

Ferris - The First Thanksgiving

J.L.G. Ferris, The First Thanksgiving

The journey is finally over, or more likely, it is just beginning!  But, today we are most thankful. Ten Parts in the King went to the printer yesterday afternoon!! In a few days we should have a proof copy in hand to take a quick final look at before the first print run of a scant 2500 copies is ordered.

Honestly, we thought the process would have gone much faster, but the Father’s time and measured steps have been evident at every turn as He has blessed us with

  • new and relevant information that improved the book,
  • numerous proof readers with loads of valuable suggestions and input,
  • editors who saw mistakes and typos we didn’t, and
  • prayer warriors who stood in the gap lifting this project.

If this book is successful, it will not be because we are special or have any real effect, but it will be because it is time and our Father desires this message in the hands of the many. My secret prayer is 100,000 copies peppering this continent. Pray that with me and watch the Father make some HUGE moves for the Kingdom!!

Today, we’ll relax and enjoy some turkey. We’ll fellowship with family and friends.  We may even watch some football, but mostly, I know Al and I will take a relaxed deep breath that the book is finished and we merely wait expectantly for the proof copy.  Next week, we can begin planning the book launch, promotions etc. Today, though, we are simply thankful for the great grace and mercy of our King and His timely provisions and blessings.

Chag Sameach Sukkot Jr. 😉

Publication Update: Just Waiting on Congress – Ten Parts in the King

We’re in that tedious part of the final stages of publication: we’ve done all we can do, and now we’re waiting on other people to do their part. Specifically, we’re waiting on the Library of Congress to issue us a control number. That’s the last thing before Ten Parts in the King goes to the printer. Then we get to work with the printer to make sure the proof is just right, and when we’re all satisfied, the print run begins.

Sounds tedious, doesn’t it? But fear not! Every day gets us one step closer to having this work available to the reading public. In the meantime, we’re gathering our thoughts for follow-on articles on this website. With Ten Parts in the King as the foundation, we hope to present a continuing series of posts to expand on subjects we just didn’t have opportunity to cover adequately in the book.

Thomas Jefferson was instrumental in establishing the Library of Congress as the national library of the United States. Now we’re only waiting on the LOC to record our book before it goes to print!

Keep watching this site! We’ll provide updates as the news comes in. In the meantime, if you’re inclined to help finance the first printing, click on the donate button below. We have had tremendous response in the last two weeks, and are only a few hundred dollars short of the full amount. Thank you to everyone who has helped us get this far!

To donate any amount, please click on the button below: That’s all for now! If you have any questions, please contact us at editor@tenpartsintheking.com. And, help us spread the word!

Publication Update: Manuscript is Complete! – Ten Parts in the King

We took a major step forward this week with Ten Parts in the King. After months of work, with input from some very dedicated, knowledgeable, and helpful readers, the manuscript is complete!

What’s next? Glad you asked!

This week, we are working with Key of David Publishing to take care of those important legal and financial details to prepare the way for sending the manuscript to the printer. We already have an estimate for the initial print run, and we are very encouraged that it’s about $3,000 – about what we expected. Once we have half of that amount in hand, and have the copyright and other details settled, we can send the job off to the printer. After that, it should take about a month before the book is available.

We have had questions about when we’ll be accepting preorders. We expect to do that as soon as the book goes to the printer. If you are receiving our publication updates, you will be among the first to know!

How long before the book goes to the printer? That is a question you can help us answer!

Key of David is a small publishing company, and doesn’t (yet) have the funds on hand to cover even these modest printing costs. Therefore, we are asking for help from our readers in raising the money for the initial printing.

To donate any amount, please click on the button below:

Thanks to generous friends, we already have nearly $1000 in hand. Will you help us go the rest of the way? Join us in this important endeavor by making a donation toward the first printing. Any donations in excess of that amount will be rolled into successive printings. Consider this an investment, not only in Ten Parts in the King, but in the groundbreaking work that is the hallmark of Key of David Publishing!

The last bit of news is that we are thinking about a book launching event or two. We’ll be able to fill in the details of when and where once we have an idea when the book will be published. For now, the thought is to have the book launching either in Columbia, South Carolina or in Charlotte, North Carolina – or maybe an event in each location!  Please let us know your thoughts!

That’s all for now! If you have any questions, please contact us at editor@tenpartsintheking.com. And help us spread the word!

After the Fox! Two New Projects About the Torah Awakening

Has anyone noticed The Barking Fox hasn’t posted much in recent months? It may be that the only one who has noticed is your humble author. Aside from self-generated deadlines and publication goals, there is no pressure to maintain the pace of posting up to three times each week. That’s very good when other surprising opportunities appear out of nowhere.

Two such unexpected opportunities arrived last spring: a new radio show, and a new book.

Reunion Roadmap

The radio show is Reunion Roadmap, the weekly broadcast by B’ney Yosef North America (BYNA). As reported here, Reunion Roadmap features high-quality worship music, encouraging testimonies of Torah followers from around North America, and uplifting teaching by BYNA’s Elders.

The show came into existence at the invitation of Eddie Chumney, founder of Hebraic Heritage Ministries. He had the idea of establishing Hebraic Roots Radio as an internet broadcasting forum for teaching, worship music, and more. Eddie’s invitation came as we were praying about how to proceed with our vision of connecting the people of the emerging House of Ephraim here in North America. It took two months to establish and refine the concept of the show and prepare for our first broadcast in mid-June. Now Reunion Roadmap is on the air every Saturday and Sunday evening at 9:00 p.m. Eastern on Hebraic Heritage Radio, and Saturday at 9:00 p.m. Pacific on Hebrew Nation Radio. Podcasts of the show are available on the BYNA web site at:

https://bneyyosefna.com/category/byna-radio-reunion-roadmap/.

As you may imagine, being part of a dynamic production team preparing a pre-recorded radio show each week is a time-consuming process. That, however, is not the only project eating into the time and energy previously invested in blog posts. The other major project is –

Ten Parts in the King: The Prophesied Reconciliation of God’s Two Witnesses

My friend and colleague Pete Rambo, creator of the blog, natsab.com, had an idea early in 2014 to write a book, “articulating and defending from Scripture the message of ‘The Prophesied Reconciliation of God’s Two Witnesses.’” Pete made that statement in an article he wrote as the inaugural post on our new website, Ten Parts in the King (https://tenpartsintheking.com/).

We created the web site to promote our forthcoming book, Ten Parts in the King: The Prophesied Reconciliation of God’s Two Witnesses. It took over three years to come to the point when we could actually write the book, but we finally realized early this spring that the time had arrived. We have worked all summer to write this important work that explains from Scripture who the Two Witnesses are, what they have to do with the Torah Awakening among Christians, and why they are essential to the Kingdom process of redemption.

Who are the two witnesses? We believe they are none other than the House of Judah and the House of Israel, the parties mentioned in the famous New Covenant in Hebrews 8:8-12 and Jeremiah 31:31-34. That Covenant, as explained by Jeremiah, is this:

“Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them,” declares the Lord. “But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” declares the Lord, “I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. They will not teach again, each man his neighbor and each man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them,” declares the Lord, “for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.” (Jeremiah 31:31-34 NASB, emphasis added)

Our years of study, first as Christians in the traditional church and now as Torah-honoring followers of Messiah Yeshua, has brought us to the conclusion that God’s plan of redemption involves two parts of His covenant nation of Israel: the Jewish House of Judah, and the non-Jewish House of Israel (also known as the House of Joseph and House of Ephraim). The Two Houses are two witnesses YHVH has established to share with the world two distinct testimonies of His ability and willingness to redeem all of humanity.

How does this work? That’s what this book explains!

Our intent is to have Ten Parts in the King available by the end of this year (2017). Even now we are going through that tedious, yet necessary, process of the final copy editing to get the manuscript ready for print. If you would like to know more, visit the web site! There you can sign up to receive publication updates, news about preorders, and notifications of new articles and features. In fact, you can already see how we came up with this peculiar name, Ten Parts in the King. That story is in an excerpt from the book posted here:

https://tenpartsintheking.com/2017/10/10/pictured-in-a-parable/#more-112

And that’s what The Barking Fox has been doing all summer! You may not see a return to the frequency of posts as in recent years, but that’s because Pete and I have combined our efforts to do our part in our God’s redemptive Kingdom process!
